Searching IBM Connections

We are pleased to announce that we have added support for IBM® Connections to our EZ Notes Search product.  EZ Notes Search V2.3 has these new capabilities:
  • Users can now quickly search their files, mail, archives, attachments and Connections using a single interface
  • Mail and archived mail messages now display the To and CC fields in the search results preview window
There is a free trial version available.  This is a client only install.  No additional software or changes need to made on the Connections or Domino servers making it very easy to use this product.

This functionality complements the IBM Connections Desktop Plug-ins for Microsoft Windows which does not offer this search capability.  The IBM Connections Desktop Plug-ins for Microsoft Windows are not required to be installed to use the EZ Notes Search capabilities.

Please visit our site where you can download a free trial or purchase licenses: http://www.notesconnectors.com/search-software/

Searching the contents of PDF files on 64-bit Microsoft Windows

Microsoft® Windows® Search uses a component called an iFilter to extract text from files when indexing.  There are iFilters for many file formats available.

In order to use Microsoft Windows Search to search PDF files, you need to have an iFilter for the PDF file format installed on your system.  Adobe® Reader includes an iFilter for 32 bit Microsoft Windows platforms.  For 64-bit systems, you need to install Adobe PDF iFilter which is available here:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4025.

Once the iFilter is installed, Windows Search will index the contents of any PDFs found on your hard drive and allow you to search for text found inside of the PDF.  If you also have installed EZ Notes Search from notesconnectors.com you will also be able to search for text found inside of any PDF attachments in your IBM® Lotus® Notes® local mail or archive files.
